![]() ![]() Tighten spring pivot bolt to 40-55 N.m (30-40 lb-ft).Ĭheck out the diagrams (Below). ROTATE tensioner assembly against belt with torque wrench up to 41-45 N.m (30-33 lb-ft) and tighten adjusting bolt.ġ1. Repeat steps if timing marks are not properly aligned.ġ0. Bring crankshaft slowly, without stopping, to number one cylinder firing position (keyway directly UP).ĩ. ROTATE crankshaft two revolutions CLOCKWISE.Ĩ. NOTE: When performing the following step, DO NOT ROTATE crankshaft COUNTER-CLOCKWISE as timing belt may jump a cog, putting camshaft or camshaft position sensor on oil pump out of time.ħ. Loosen tensioner adjusting bolt allowing tensioner pulley to press against timing belt. Then, proceeding COUNTER-CLOCKWISE, over oil pump sprocket and camshaft sprocket.Ħ. Install timing belt over crankshaft sprocket. Align diamond on oil pump sprocket with diamond on inner timing belt cover.ĥ. Align triangle on camshaft sprocket with triangle on inner timing belt cover.Ĥ. Align crankshaft so number one piston is at Top Dead Center (TDC) with crankshaft key pointing straight UP and circle on crankshaft sprocket aligned with notch in engine front cover.ģ. Tighten adjusting bolt to hold tensioner in RELEASED position.Ģ. Using Camshaft Belt Tension Adjusting Tool, pry tensioner CLOCKWISE against spring tension as far as possible.Ĭ. NOTE: Care must be taken during timing belt installation to prevent damage to the inner timing cover.ī. It fits over a keyway on the crank so it cannot move left or tight. The plate you refer to can only go on 1 way. If the valve timing is off, the compression will be low. You can verify by performing a compression test. If the belt is off at the crankshaft and the distributor and the cam are in time, the truck will lack power. I also attached a you tube video for you of setting up the gears so the belt is in the correct location after the tensioner is set. I attached pictures of the alignment marks for you to review. The belt may have moved and changed the valve timing. ![]()
